Data Scientist / Software Engineer in Computational Biology (f/m/d)
The Rendeiro lab at CeMM, the Research Center for Molecular Medicine of the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Vienna, is recruiting a highly motivated data scientist / software engineer to join our international teamstudying human aging and pathology using computational and molecular methods.
Our group develops computational methods for the analysis of large-scale biological datasets, including spatial transcriptomics, highly multiplexed imaging, and histopathology. We integrate these data with clinical and molecular information to investigate the organization of cells at the micro-anatomical level and how this changes with age and disease. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and deploymentof robust, scalable software solutions that drive our research forward.
Your Profile
Don't meet all the requirements? We're committed to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace,so if you're passionate about this role but your experience doesn't perfectly match every qualification in thejob description, we still encourage you to apply.
Your Tasks
The Rendeiro Lab ()
We are an interdisciplinary and collaborative group combining computational biology, molecular biology, and translational research. Our mission is to generate new insights into human health and disease through integrative data science. The lab is embedded within CeMM's collaborative environment and benefits from access to state-of-the-art computing infrastructure and molecular facilities.
The lab has access to excellent infrastructure to perform advanced computational and molecular research in a modern high-performance computing environment. This includes a HPC cluster with NVIDIA H100 nodes, parallel storage and fast interconnects, dedicated workstations with multiple A6000 GPUs, and web-based services via Microsoft Azure.
The Institute ()
CeMM is an international research institute of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and a founding member ofEU-LIFE. The mission of CeMM, the Research Center for Molecular Medicine of the Austrian Academy ofSciences is to achieve maximum scientific innovation in molecular medicine to improve healthcare. At CeMM,an international and creative team of scientists and medical doctors pursues free-minded basic life science research in a large and vibrant hospital environment of outstanding medical tradition and practice. At CeMM,an international and creative team of scientists and medical doctors pursues free-minded basic life science research in a large and vibrant hospital environment of outstanding medical tradition and practice. CeMM'sresearch is based on post-genomic technologies and focuses on societally important diseases, such as immune disorders and infections, cancer, aging and metabolic disorders. CeMM operates in a unique mode of super-cooperation, connecting biology with medicine, experiments with computation, discovery with translation, and science with society and the arts. CeMM discovers and develops technologies to explore human biology with the purpose of defeating disease at its roots. Because Science is our Medicine! CeMM trains a modern blend of biomedical scientists and is located at the campus of the General Hospital and the Medical University of Vienna. CeMM is a proud recipient of the HR Excellence in Research Award (HRS4R).This award indicates that CeMM takes care of the well-being of its employees, that the recruitment process is open, fair, and transparent, and that CeMM offers professional appraisals and career development procedures.
